Part of McLaren Racing’s Chrome Shines Again campaign, it blends heritage-inspired chrome with the edge of a modern F1 contender. Finished in McLaren’s signature orange and black this special Austin edition pairs head-turning style with proven performance from the championship-winning 2024 MCL38 platform.
 
Built around a 1.6-liter V6 turbo hybrid and Mercedes-AMG F1 M15 E Performance power unit, the MCL38 delivers elite speed, precision, and efficiency.
Compared with the 2023 car, the MCL38 pushed forward with improved front suspension geometry, revised sidepod and engine cover shaping, underfloor development, and stronger aerodynamic efficiency—changes aimed at boosting mechanical grip, tire life, and low-speed performance.
 
Driven by Oscar Piastri in the 2024 Austin Grand Prix, car #81 brings real event pedigree to this chrome special.
The result: a sharper, faster, more refined evolution of McLaren’s 2023 car—wrapped in one of the most memorable liveries of the 2024 season.
